Meprolight Tru-Dot Adjustable Sight HK USP Tactical

Amazing product.

Meprolight Tru-Dot Adjustable Sight HK USP Tactical

by: DM, Loyal Customer

While these sights do glow brilliantly and installed with very little trouble at all, I have found a problem with this particular design in all three of the H&K USP Tactical .45s I''ve installed these on. The rear sight, bottomed-out as far as its height-adjustment screw will take it, still isn''t far enough to get a proper sight alignment at 25 yards. Either the front sight needs to be higher (preferable, of course), or that rear sight needs to be on a taller base. The factory sights had lots of adjustment room in them, and all three of them shot pretty much to point-of-aim at 25 yards with a few different 230-grain rounds. But these Meprolights require the shooter to adjust his/her sight picture in order to make the things work. Of all of the Meprolight night sights I''ve installed, these are the only ones that have been a problem. That rear sight needs to be able to click down about half a dozen more ticks than it''s able to do in order for things to line up properly.

Adjustable night sights for H&K USP .45 Tactical with suppressor

by: Doc

It's almost impossible to find night sights for this firearm, and finding a set that will clear the top of most available suppressors for this particular pistol is even harder. I've been using a set of adjustable Meprolights on the first H&K USP .45 Tactical I bought several years ago with absolute satisfaction--great accuracy and equally great visibility, and now I'm getting ready to buy another set for a twin pistol that I plan to get next week.

Not Quite Right

by: cleefurd

Item 21516(0) 3 Dot Green on Green replacement for HK USP Tactical or Expert (Full Size) received from Brownells on May 30, 2008. Pros; >Good fit, no filing/fitting required. >Good Quality bright dots. >Easy to install. >Tight distinct adjustments. Cons; >Front dot is partially (at least 1/3) obscured by rear sight leaf when all 3 dots are perfectly aligned, making it necessary to slightly raise the front dot to fully view it... not good for target aquisition when/if suppressor is fitted, due to its being raised into the line of sight in the process. (there is enough meat in the sight body to "groove this region for clear line of sight to full dot if desired, which I intend to do so day/night sighting is all the same) >Instructions should stress Right-to-Left removal/Left-to Right install guidance for the uninitiated user. >Front sight is .045" (.295" vs .340" stock) shorter than the original on my USP .40 Tactical, which allows it to become nearly obscured by the suppressor. >Lacks some of the scallops/facets/fillets that the OE version has, which are nice for smooth holstering, drawing, and ergonomics in general. > Slightly shorter sight radius due to the rear sight blade being further forward. >Shorter (front to rear) ft sight blade, which leaves the tritium vial perilously close to any dings that might afflict the top front corner of the sight, where the fore-most portion of the inserted vial would be vulnerable to fracturing (they are extremely fragile on the front and rear where the outer (white) tube can not shield them (note the rear viewed portion is covered by clear polymer-type coating, thus protected to modest degree. >Less refined serrations on the rear sight blade. >Finish is not quite as subdued as OE, almost "slick and shiny" on the rear blade. Conclusion; Although I am not unhappy with the purchase, given hind-sight, I would have inquired to see if PT Night Sights/Innovative Weaponry still does custom fitting of "Bar-Dot" tritium sights into OE sights. I have seen and used them before, back in the early 90's when they were still in Albuquerque, NM. This route would have cost about the same or less, and left me with better ergonomics, longer sight radius, sights tall enough to "see over the can", and a custom touch. At any rate I now CAN align in low light, that's good! Semper-Fi
